Duct Tape Zipper Pouch Tutorial

Hey Guys and Gals!
Today I'm going to show you how to make your very own Duct Tape Zipper Pouch.

The supplies you will need are:
Duct Tape
Xacto Knife or Scissors
Zipper (I used 9")
Hot Glue Gun/Hot Glue
Cutting Board and Ruler for Measuring

I chose to go with the Camo Print...I'll explain why later :)
And I chose a Black 9" Zipper
You can choose any length of color of your choice

I Pre-Cut the first 4 pieces of DT
I cut mine to 11.5 inches because the zipper part is 9" but there is added fabric on each end
You will need to move FAST on the next step so make sure you have those first 4 pieces of DT handy

Heat up your heat gun while you are cutting out your 4 pieces of DT
You want it nice and hot

I could not take a photo of this step because I had to move fast before the glue dried..so here is what I did:
I put a thin line of hot glue along the zipper, making sure to not get it in the zipper part but close to it
The glue dries VERY fast so make sure your tape is ready..
Now put your strip of DT onto the Zipper, again close to the zipper part but not all the way to it..smooth it out
You need to leave some room for the zipper to slide back and fourth
Make sense?

Repeat on the other side of the Zipper, adding a line of Hot Glue and then putting your strip of DT down on top of it, smoothing the DT down onto the fabric of the Zipper

Now flip it over and do it again to the back side
Adding Hot Glue from left to right, adding your DT Strip, and smoothing it out
This can get a little tricky if you don't have some experience with DT
Once those two pieces of DT touch each other they are stuck

Wheww! The hard part is over!
Flip the piece back over to the front and start adding more strips of DT, overlapping about 1/2"
I added 5 pieces on each side..meaning
I added a piece, flipped it over, added a piece flipped it over, etc..
Work on one side at a time

Once I added all the DT to one side of the pouch, making a DT Fabric if you will, I folded up the sticky end so there was no sticky

Next I got to working on the other side, repeating the same process with another 5 Strips of DT
Only don't fold up that last piece of sticky just yet..

Fold the pouch together to form the "pouch" and take the sticky from one side and stick it over the the other side..
Ugh..hard to explain but super easy to do
You just sealed up the bottom
So now your pouch is almost complete, we just need to close up the sides now that the bottom is all sealed up

If you need to trim up your sides to even them up, do that now..
Ready?  Okie Dokie let's finish this bad boy :)

Cut a strip of DT 1/2"-1" longer than your sides
I cut 1/2" off the width so my strip was 1 1/2" wide and 6" long

Put your strip onto the side of the Pouch right up to where the Zipper starts...flip over and add a little slice to the DT like I did in the photo
Fold that skinny piece down over the pouch
This seals up the "hole" at the ends of the zippers

Now cut off that rectangular piece and toss it in the trash
Or reuse it for something else, but we don't need it
Fold over that strip to secure the side of the Pouch

Repeat same technique on other side

You did it!  Look at our amazing Duct Tape Zipper Pouch!

Now listen...you realize all the options you have with this right?
It can be any size and/or length

You can use it for a tremendous amount of things!
Makeup, Toys, Money, Wallet, Use it as a clutch, Put Coupons in it, Toiletries bag..I mean I could go on and on
BUT I WON'T :)

Now stay tuned tomorrow, because I am going to show you something absolutely amazing that I am going to do with this pouch!

I'm taking it up a notch, are you ready!
I'm so excited to show you!!
This is why I chose to use the Camo Print...what I'm making tomorrow with this pouch is for my son...
Any ideas???

Until tomorrow!

Duct Tape Clutch~Beginner Level

Today I am going to show you how to make a very simple yet fun Duct Tape Clutch.

This project is great for all DT Skill Levels, beginners included.

Here's what you will need:

Duct Tape of your choice and a piece of 9x12 Felt
You can find these Pre-Cut Sheets at your local Craft Store for really cheap.  You can usually get a few for a buck.  Also some sticky back Velcro (not shown in pic)

Cut a strip of DT that is 9 inches long
At one end of the Felt, put down your DT so that it is half on the felt and half off.  Try and make this as straight as possible.
If it's not straight, no worries, I'll show you later how to fix that.

Now flip it over and stick down the DT so that you now have DT on both sides (No Sticky)

I flipped mine back over and now start adding addition strips of DT overlapping each piece by about a 1/4"
Take your time doing this because once it touches the felt it's stuck

Once you get one side of the felt completely covered in DT, flip it over and fold that piece of DT onto the felt

Decide where you want the fold to be on your clutch
I folded mine up 4 inches
I cut a piece of tape that is 4" long and put it on the side there overlapping about half way
Then flipped it over and stuck the tape to the back
 Repeat on the other side

Now that both sides of your clutch are secure you are pretty much done!
So easy huh?

Get some Sticky Back Velcro
Seriously love this stuff!!!

Add your Velcro and now your clutch can stay closed
Now, if your top piece of DT is crooked, add another piece of DT over the crooked tape before adding the Velcro.
Mine is a little crooked but it's not overly noticeable so I just left it.

Here is what it looks like closed
You can see I chose to cut the corners off of the flap
I did that just for a little added decor, but it's not necessary

The inside

Another view of the inside

Because I just couldn't help myself I Hot Glued a fake Flower on the clutch
Isn't it adorable???!!!!

I just love this clutch!
It super cool and padded from the felt.

It's an easy accessory to make yourself for an evening out, or just for fun.
It's so affordable you could make one in every color to match every outfit!!

I also love the fact that this is an easy craft for beginner Duct Tape Crafters.

Just to recap, the supplies you will need are:
Duct Tape
Felt
Sticky Back Velcro

Hope you enjoyed my Glam Duct Tape Clutch!

Outdoor Duct Tape Pillow

Summer has finally arrived in the state of Oregon!

During the Summer, my husband and I like to hang out in the backyard after the kids go to bed.

We light our Tiki Torches, start a fire in the fire pit, listen to music, and just relax and enjoy each others company.

We have these two plastic Adirondack chairs, and I love the look of them but they are uncomfortable for me.
I'm only 5'1, but my husband is tall, so they fit him perfectly.

I decided last night that I needed a pillow for behind my neck and/or for my lower back while lounging in the chairs.

So of course I made one with Duct Tape!
Why?  Because Duct Tape is Waterproof, and Durable.
It's perfect for an outdoor pillow!

All I did was make one big sheet of DT Fabric, fold it in half, and tape the sides shut, leaving one side open so I could fill it with Fiber Fill.  Then I took a strip of DT and closed it up.

Seriously it took me only a few minutes to make, and I love it!

It's smaller because like I said I only wanted it for behind my back and neck, but I plan on making bigger ones for the chairs for added decor.

I had my guinea pig husband try it out

He said it was awesome on his lower back
I didn't take a pic of that cause you couldn't see the pillow :)

I'm super happy with it and it looks great out there.
It felt AH-mazing on my lower back...like crazy good.
It's the perfect size.

So what are you waiting for?
Go make some cute Duct Tape Outdoor Pillows and spice up your outdoor decor!

Enjoy your day :)

Duct Tape Luggage Tag

This morning my brother-in-law sent me a text.
It said "I have a Duct Tape idea for you..Luggage Tags"

I love that my family thinks of new and creative ideas for me when it comes to DT.

This time however I had already beat him to the punch.
I made these a couple of years ago, but realized I had never posted them on my blog.

So here it goes.

Supplies you will need:
Duct Tape (2 Colors)
Ribbon, String or a Zip Tie
Hole Punch
Sharpie
Scissors/Exacto Knife

Cut two strips of Duct Tape to 4 inches in lenghth

Put one on top of the other...
Sticky side to Sticky Side

Trim off any sticky if needed all the way around
then...
Cut off the corners of one end for added detail..
or don't and leave it a rectangle shape

I prefer this shape, I think it looks nice
You could however round the edges as well

Cut out a piece of DT in a corresponding color to
3 inches x 1.25 inches
One that is light enough to see writing on it

Place it on the tag in the middle
Write your name, phone number and/or addy on the DT with a Sharpie

Punch a hole in the top with a hole punch

If you are using Ribbon or String cut a piece that is long enough to be folded in half, yet still able to go around a luggage handle

Tie a knot at one end

Put the loop end thru the hole

Wrap around luggage handle
Then put the knotted end thru the loop and pull

This is what the knot looks like
you can just tie it around the luggage handle too if you prefer

Or
You can put a Zip Tie thru the hole and use that to wrap around the luggage

Done!

So easy, inexpensive, waterproof, and fun

This is also how I make my DT Bookmarks

These luggage tags are easy to spot when looking for your luggage after a flight

If you have kids traveling with you, use the kid DT's that are out
Such as Spiderman, Spongebob, Mario Bros, Hello Kitty

You could also add a Grommet to the hole that you punched out for added strength and durability.

Have a great weekend everyone!

Cupcake Toppers DIY

Hello Hello Hello!

One of the things I sold at my Craft Fair last weekend was Cupcake Toppers.
If you look back at through the pictures you'll see them on my table.

They are so simple...SO simple and fun that I want to share them with you.

I did not do a step by step tutorial on these because they are pretty self explanatory.
If you have any questions about them though, please feel free to ask me, I'd love to help you!

All you need are:
Toothpicks
Duct Tape or Card Stock

Um..so I'm pretty sure you know what I chose to work with...
YUP Duct Tape :)

The first thing I did was cut the tip off the toothpick, so that the top wasn't sharp any more.
Then..
What I did was..
I took a 2.5 in X .5 inch strip of Duct Tape and fold it in half with the toothpick in the middle.
Sticky side to sticky side.

Last step was to trim if necessary.

Now I just used regular sized toothpicks but today I picked up some Sandwich Toothpicks and they appear to be a lot longer.
They don't need to be longer, the regular one's work just fine.

You can change the shape of your Cupcake Topper, such as make it a triangle for example.

You can use Card Stock as well.  I would use Double Sided Tape and put a strip down the middle of whole strip of paper, that way when you put the toothpick in the middle and fold..the tape will stick to the toothpick as well and the flag won't slide off.
Make sense?

There are so many options with this, it's quick, inexpensive and they would look adorable on Cupcakes.

However, they are not limited to just cupcakes...
put them on little sandwiches, fruit, any type of appetizer or party food to add a little decor and fun.

Have a great day everyone!

Craft Show!!!

WHAT UP!

Hello ladies...Yes I'm still here!
I had a Craft Show this past weekend and I'm still exhausted from all the work that went into it lol!

Although I love selling my homemade craftiness, it's so exhausting...
If you've ever done it, then you know what I mean.
I signed up for this one with only 3 weeks to prepare...not a lot of time!

I don't know what I was thinking, but it turned out just fine.
This go around I decided to only sell some Duct Tape Items.
My booth was a hit, thank goodness..but I'm not going to lie, I was a little worried when the first few hours had very little customers, but then it picked up.

Here's what I had for sale:
DT Lanyards
DT Key Wristlet Key Chains
DT Hair Bows

Here are some pics from my tiny little booth :)

That Pink Paisley wallet is my fav...the pockets are lined with Gold DT..
I need to make another one

The Booth..

Still the booth...

And...the last pic of the booth

So there you go...

I sold almost all my wallets, and was so pleased to see how excited people got over them.
I had a lot of new ones out that I've never sold before so that was fun to see people's reaction over them.

However the best part of the show was all the kids that came up to my booth to tell me that they too make Duct Tape Stuff.
Honestly...it was amazing!  I strongly encourage kids to make stuff, and some even had their own little side business selling wallets and bracelets to kids at school.
I had fun talking with them about it, and encouraged them to keep up the good work.

After all..

DUCT TAPE ROCKS!!!

On another some what related note..
I have to show you these earrings I made...

Not the best picture but I wanted you to see up close...
These are tiny wooden spools that I covered in the Pink/Gold/Teal Paisley Duct Tape..then I added Teal Glass Pearl Beads to them.
I LOVE these earrings..I wish you could see them in person, because they are so stink'n cute!
They didn't sell, and I'm actually glad, I don't think I asked enough for them, and I love them so much I may just keep them.
Aren't they adorbs??!!

Wishing you all a wonderful day!
