DIY Candle

DIY Candle

This morning as I was feeding my annoying sweet loving cats...
I couldn't help but think that there must be something I could use the can for.

This is what I came up with :)

I bought these wax melts a while ago at the Dollar Tree...I knew I could make candles with them someday with out spending a fortune on wax at the craft store.

I also had these 2" wax wicks on hand, they are only a couple bucks at the craft store.

Here's the process step by step:

  • Clean Cat Food Can and Dry
  • Break up wax melts into six chunks and place in can (I ended up using 2 packages, so 12 squares)
  • Fill a saucepan up with a couple of inches of water then set the Cat Food Can in the water
  • Boil water until wax has melted
  • Remove can from saucepan
  • Add wick and let the wax set

Once the wax has hardened cut the wick back, light and enjoy!

I have to admit, the wax melts I used from the Dollar Store smell FANTASTIC..
the scent is Vanilla Sandlewood.

You could do this same process with old wax that's left at the bottom of candles, just scrap it out with a butter knife (or whatever tickles your fancy) and melt the wax the same way.

Or...

You could do it with color crayons as well...just say'n...you could get seriously creative here folks!

Have fun with it :)

Update: I couldn't help myself...I had to add some Duct Tape to the mix

Now I love it even more!!!! So unbelievably cute...ugh..totally patting myself on the back lol :)

Have a great day everyone!

Fun with Polymer Clay

Hello Everyone!

Today I am going to show you some charms/earrings that I've made out of polymer clay.

Most of these can be used on a charm bracelet or as earrings, some however are bigger for a necklace charm.

I put a penny next to them so you can see how small they are.
Enjoy!

Tiny donut charms..At some point I will make these into a charm bracelet

Polymer Clay is so much fun..your options are endless, and I love that.  I even have my 4 yr old create things and then bake them in the oven so they stay hard and we can keep them.

Clothespin Napkin Rings

Clothespin Napkin Rings

Ok, so a couple days ago I did a post on Clothespin Bracelets.
and
Today it hit me...I could make napkin rings!

Seriously love this idea!  What a great gift to give to someone..I mean have you bought napkin rings recently??
They are SOOOO expensive!  I've always thought they were over priced, call me cheap I guess.

I followed the same steps as my previous post HERE

Except I only used 6 springs for my napkin rings vs 10 for the bracelet

I LOVE the way they turned out.  So pretty :)

These Napkin Rings would be great for all sorts of occasions:
As a Birthday Gift, Anniversary Gift, Housewarming Gift, Wedding Gift, or Mother's Day Gift just to name a few.

ENJOY!

Yummy Low Carb Peanut Butter Cookies

Low Carb Peanut Butter Cookies

I know what you're thinking...low carb? Eww!  Am I right?

Well guess what..they are YUMMY!

And

Easy to make.  Very few ingredients.  Even you non-bakers could make these :)

I believe these are even in the Atkin's Diet Plan.
Here's the Recipe :)

Low Carb Peanut Butter Cookies

  • 1 Cup of Peanut Butter (Chunky or Creamy)
  • 1 Cup of Sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 1/2 Tsp Vanilla Extract (optional)

Mix all ingredients together in bowl.

Place rounded spoon fulls onto cookie sheet

Smoosh down with fork to get grid lines

Bake at 350 degrees for 12-14 minutes

Let cool
Makes approx 12 cookies

You can also add Chocolate Chips...Yum!

Ok, honestly I don't make these cause they are low carb...I make them because they are super fast, easy and taste really really good.  Plus I always have the ingredients on hand in my cupboard.

Enjoy!

Clothespin Bracelet

Clothespin Bracelet

Hey guys!  So check this out..seriously crazy and neat-o!

These bracelets are made from the metal springs that hold the wood clothespins together!

I got this box of 36 wood clothespins at the Dollar Store...
I just had to make something out of them...so I did :)

I took the springs off the wood piece..which is very simple by the way, they slide right off.

Then you take the two "L" pieces from one spring and put them through the spring part of another spring.
Ok that sentence sounds really confusing, but I hope you get it.

Then just keep linking them together...

And you get this!

Mine took 10 springs, but depending on the size of your wrist you may need to change that give or take.
I have pretty small wrists.

So this was cool and all, but I wanted to jazz it up.
Sooooo

I added beads!  I was able to fit 4 little shiny beads on each side of the spring.
All I did was get some pliers and unbend "L" the pieces, slide the beads on, then bend back into the "L" shape.

Pretty sweet eh?

Now I have all these left over wood pieces that I REFUSE to just throw away...as my husband rolls his eyes lol..

My 4yr old son used them as building blocks, so that was cool.
However I think I may make one of those Starburst Mirrors that everyone is doing these days...

Or I may just put them in my office and forget about them...which is the most likely scenario..just say'n lol :)

Have a great day!
