Button Bracelet

Button Bracelet

Good Morning!

Today I am going to show you a bracelet I made out of buttons....yup buttons!

I had all these marvelous buttons just laying around...they were lonely...so I just had to make something with them....I think I made their day...

What I did was took a length of chain, and attached buttons..that's it...I know it takes lots of talent huh?
LOL!

I alternated the sizes...small, smaller, small, smaller..etc...

I then added a magnetic clasp...I have a hard time putting bracelets on...so the magnet makes it so much easier...and they are strong little magnets too!

Thank you hand model...this model would like to remain anonymous....cause if any of his this person's friends found out that would be horrible :)

I personally love this bracelet, it's bright, fun, and a total conversation piece.

Have a fabulous weekend

Noodle Beads

Noodle Beads

Ok so you know I LOVE cheap and easy crafts...at least I hope at this point you do lol :)

So I made these noodle beads for my kids during the winter time..I didn't have a craft blog then, so I am showing you now.

Supplies:
Box of Noodles
Rubbing Alcohol
Food Coloring
Bowls

Now once again..I got ALL my supplies at the Dollar Store..gotta love a cost effective craft!

Sorry I don't have a pic for this anymore but this is what I did:

I set out 5 bowls, filled them up equally with noodles.
I then filled them up with Rubbing Alcohol until they were fully submerged.
I then added some drops of food coloring..the more you add the stronger the color will be.
Gave them a gentle stir and let them all sit for about 10-15 minutes.

Next step, I lined a huge cutting board with paper towels, although next time I would used a large cookie sheet instead.

Then dumped the noodles one at a time in a strainer (Do Not Rinse), and laid them on the paper towels.
Be careful that the noodles don't touch the color next to them on the paper towel or you will get some spotted color transfer (which isn't bad, it's actually kinda cool looking)

I let them air dry, and it didn't take long.

Now it will smell like Rubbing Alcohol pretty strongly for a few minutes, but once they are dry you will not smell the alcohol at all...promise!

The end result is nothing short of amazing bursts of color!  I love these!!!!

Aren't these fun??!!  I love the bright colors, and you can do SO many things with these.  As you can see I used two different types of noodles here.  The smaller ones don't even look like noodles!

Have fun with this one guys, I know we did!

Chore Blocks

Chore Blocks

These are awesome...just say'n :)

My kids are far apart in age, and I needed something that would work for both of them.  I wanted them to earn their allowance, but make it fun at the same time.

I've seen a lot of people use these wood blocks for crafts, and some had the same idea of using them as chore blocks.

So what I did was, I hit up my local craft store...they know me by name...embarrassing!

I bought 3 small 2in wood blocks.  I let the boys pick which color they would like their block to be and painted it accordingly using acrylic paint.

The oldest wanted yellow, the youngest orange.  I then painted the money one green....
it just made cents sense :)

I put chores for each boy that were both age appropriate & I knew they could handle.
Now they can roll their dice to see what chore they get for the day..then roll the money one to see how much they earn.

Each of them has a "free pass" on their block, which the oldest thought was fabulous...of course :)

Enjoy!

Matchbook Notepad

Matchbook Notepad

Today I am showing you Matchbook Notepads...a little notepad to keep in your purse, diaper bag, backpack, you name it using either recycled products or scrapbook paper :)

The reason they are called Matchbook Notepads is because they are folded like a Matchbook....just in case you needed help figuring that one out :)

Here I have a paper cutter, a piece of Zebra Print Cardstock, Hot Pink Paper and a Stapler
that's it...easy peasy!

I cut the Cardstock to the size I wanted....This one is about 6 1/2in high and 3in wide.  I first fold up the bottom about an inch.  Then fold the top down so that it covers the bottom tab by about half an inch so it can later fit under it....make sense?  Maybe it will be easier to understand when you see the pics :)

You don't have to limit these matchbooks to just Cardstock, you can also use Paint Chip Samples

I just trimmed off the numbers off each side added color coordinating paper

Cute color coordinating paper on the inside!

You can make them as big or small as you like...The one on the left is about 3x3in and the one on the right is about 2.5 x 2.75in

Go Green....You could use Cereal Boxes for your outside and scraps from the recycle bin for the notepaper.
Get creative!  Give them as gifts!  Have a blast!

Homemade Bath Paint

Homemade Bath Paint

Today I am going to show you a very fast, inexpensive & easy way to make your own bath paints.  This is one of those easy crafts that your toddler could even help you with...so this one is a 2 Thumbs Up kinda craft :)

Supplies You Will Need:
1/3 Cup Dish soap ( I have a suggestion for smaller kids below)
2 Tablespoons of Corn Starch
Food Coloring
Paint Brush (or they can use them as finger paints in the tub)
Small Tupperware ( I used 1/2 cup size with lid)

What I love about this is...you have it all at home anyway.  No need to go out and buy supplies!

Here's what you do:
Take the Dish Soap or Baby Shampoo for the younger kids so it won't hurt if it gets in their eyes, and mix it in a bowl with the Corn Starch.

Then divide your mixture into four small Tupperware containers.

Next add 3 drops of food coloring into each container and stir with spoon.

Done!  Easy Peasy!

Now you should have bath paints that look like this:

When bath time is over, you can slap the lids on them and save them for next time....OR
if your kid is anything like mine there won't be any paint left cause he dumped it all in the tub after he was done painting..so you just plop the containers in the dishwasher.

It's so inexpensive, and fun for the kids to make that I don't mind making it again & again!

Enjoy and Happy Crafting!

Upcycled Sinus Pillow

Upcycled Lavender Sinus Pillow

Tis' the season for allergies & sinus infections!

My husband & oldest son suffer the worst in our house....SO...

I made a Sinus Pillow out of T-shirt scraps from a previous project and various other supplies I had around the house.  FREE...is a very good price :)

Supplies I used:
Sleeve of a T-shirt
Needle and Embroidery Thread
White Rice
Dried Lavender
Lavender Essential Oil
Scissors

So I cut off the arm of the T-shirt scrap I had left.  Two sides were already sewn so I turned it inside out and sewed one side shut, and then the other side I sewed 3/4 shut so I could add the rice mixture.

I turned it right side out (is that how you say it lol?) and mixed 1 cup of uncooked white rice, some left over dried lavender from my sisters wedding, and two drops of Lavender Essential oil in a bowl.  I then used a funnel to pour the rice mixture into the pouch.

I sewed it up and popped it in the microwave for 20 sec....Oh the smell was heavenly!

Next step..the true test..see how the boy like's it.  I had him put it on his eyes and he gave it two thumbs up..even better, he had a friend over, he tried it too and said "that feels awesome!"

Kid tested...Mother approved

I give this project two thumbs up!  It was easy, free, and works great!

Remember that Recycled T-shirt Tote I made last week? Well I added some embellishments with left over T-shirt scraps.  Here's a pic...

I made Rosettes from the scrap T-shirt pieces, and made them into a flower...So cute!

Homemade Felt Travel Tissue Holder

I don't know about you...but when I have those little tissue's in my purse they always end up coming out of the plastic packaging...next thing you know there's fuzz and what not on your tissue..ewww

So I made this tissue holder out of grey and white felt.  Travel size tissue fits right inside.  It's a much cuter case then the plastic it comes in :)  And the tissue will not fall out!

The whole craft, including the tissue cost under $0.50!!
